It has been two decades since her death, her legacy is alive and well, especially in her children. Prince William has often spoken tenderly about his mother, and now a new story has come out that proves how close the pair really were.
20 Years Later
Princess Diana tragically died in a car accident 20 years ago today, leaving her sons stunned and missing their beloved mother. You may remember it was because of the paparazzi that she died on the Pont de l’Alma road tunnel in Paris, France.
Prince William has always spoken highly of his mother, remembering the special moments they shared before her passing. In a new book called “A Royal Duty,” the families butler describes how upset Diana was when Prince Charles stripped her of the title “Her Royal Highness” during their divorce proceedings.
Even Queen Elizabeth II said she’d allow Diana to keep the title, but Charles was so angry he refused. Losing the Royal Highness title meant that Diana would no longer have a royal connection to her sons, and would have to curtsy to them at formal occasions.
After seeing his mother so upset about the title, Prince William ran up to his mother and gave her a giant hug. “Don’t worry, Mummy. I will give it back to you one day when I am king,” he whispered in her ear!
Looks like Prince William is just as sweet as we all imagined!
