Here's Why Prince George Isn't Allowed To Have A Best Friend At School

Growing up I thought the British Royal Family lived a life of luxury with no rules.

But as I got older I learnt that the luxury they live in comes with a price.

The Royal Family work incredibly hard in order to maintain their lavish lifestyle, and while it may be a luxurious life, it’s certainly not cheap!

The world is fixated with the Royal Family, at least once a day most of us see a article or a news post about them.

A story giving up an insight into their lives.

Right now we’re obessed with Prince George, this little boy who will one day be king. It’s really remarkable!

He’s just started school for the very first time, something that seems odd to most of us.

A King in school? How crazy can you be? But after all, everyone needs a good education!

Prince George is attending Thomas’s Battersea school in London. At first it seems like an ordinary school, apart from one odd rule.

Students at the school aren’t meant to make best friends.

Jane Moore, a woman who lives in the area of the school thinks this odd rule is a good idea!

“There’s a policy that if your child is having a party — unless every child is invited — you don’t give out the invites in class.I think [it] is quite a good thing as you don’t feel excluded”.

While the rule has admirable intentions, is it the only weird rule in this school?

What else do we know about the school training the mind of the future King of England?

Well, I did a little digging and managed to find a few surprising facts about the school!

It’s A Kind School.

The most important rule at the school is to be kind.

In the school’s list of values, right at the top is the aim to teach the children to be kind.

A nice little life lesson right there!

The school also says that they aim to “engender an ethos of kindness, encouragement, and understanding, in which pupils’ strengths are developed and their weaknesses supported.”

It’s A Small School.

While it is a very prestigeous school for young minds, it’s only a small school.

Thomas’s Battersea claims to only have 560 boys and girls between the ages four and thirteen in their school.

It’s Very Selective.

Because of it’s size, you can imagine how selective the school needs to be.

I mean, they don’t just take anyone!

If you want to join the school there is a thirty minute assessment that the hopeful student has to take.

If the assessment is successful, they also need a reference from their last school.

Parents are also advised by the school to: “Register as soon as possible, preferably at birth.”

It’s An Intense School.

The school has a wide range of subjects to learn. From the child’s very first day their curriculum includes “Art, Ballet, Drama, ICT, French, Music and PE,” all of the classes “taught by specialized teachers.”

They take education very seriously!

It’s A Religious School.

Even though the school is “open to children of all faiths,” Thomas’s is a “Christian school.”

But despite this, every student still learns about six different world religions in their Ethics and Morality classes.

This helps them develop a well rounded world view.

It’s Very Expensive.

Like most prestigeous schools, Thomas’s Battersea school is very expensive.

It costs just over £17,000 ($23,000) a year to go there! But that’s not the only cost. For one child (between four and seven) it’s £5,868 just to enroll!

It’s Very Secure.

If your teaching a school of children from very wealthy families, it’s understandable that good security is needed. But if your also teaching a future king, it’s even more of a necessity.

Thomas’s school is undergoing a whole new implementation of safety measures after a woman attempted to break into the school to see Prince George.

The school had this to say about the attempted break in.

Our aim for him, as well as for all of our pupils is to provide a safe and secure and happy environment where he feels supported by a kind and loving community.”

It sounds like Prince George is in safe hands, and is on his way to become a very keen thinker, something needed in a future king!

But, can we all take a moment to appreciate just how adorable Prince George looks in his school uniform?

Seriously, this guy is going to be a real heart breaker when he’s older!

What do you think about Prince George’s new school and it’s strange ‘no best friend’ rule?
