When an elderly man walked up to Alyssa Hacker’s toddler son in Target, the Arkansas mom immediately got a strange feeling in the pit of her stomach.
The man looked lost and sad as he heard Hacker’s son Owen try to choose one of the three stuffed dinosaurs he had picked up in the store’s toy aisle.
Being the protective mom that she is, Hacker was hesitant about allowing the man to get so close to her son.
But just when Hacker was about to say something to the man, he suddenly pulled $20 out of his wallet and handed it to Owen.
What happened next left Hacker in tears over the kind stranger’s heartbreaking story:
this momma just cried in the middle of Target. We were at target waiting on Grammi and we found some dinosaurs. Owen…
“This momma just cried in the middle of Target. We were at target waiting on Grammi and we found some dinosaurs. Owen grabbed all 3 and we were trying to pick out which one he wanted when Owen abruptly yelled “HI” at this older man walking past us. He turned around and said “hey sweet boy” he proceeded to play dinosaurs with Owen and with this crazy world we live in I was a little hesitant as too how close he was with Owen. The man got his wallet out and pulled a $20 out, he put it in Owens pocket on his shirt and said “i just lost my 2 year old grandson last week. You take this money and buy this boy all three dinosaurs” and rubbed Owens back, wiped his tears and walked off. After Owen yelled “thank you” the gentleman turned around and yelled boomer sooner! There is still some good in this world,” Hacker wrote in a Facebook post that has since been shared more than 105,000 times.
Fox 5 Atlanta shared this beautiful story on Facebook, where it instantly went viral, with many compassionate commenters praising the unnamed man for his kindness.
“When I read stories like this it warms my heart and gives me hope It also lets me know there are still good people left in this world. So sorry for your loss sir. May your Grandson’s soul continue to Rest In Peace,” one woman wrote.
“Sweet Enough May the gentleman that gave the toddler the 20 dollars be surrounded with love and peace during his loss,” another added.
“Love to hear precious stories like this. It’s sad, but so positive to see someone passing forward to the next person to have something they don’t,” another woman commented.
